Hiking, biking and horseback riding are available at the nearby Myles Standish Forest, a 16,000-acre site of wooded areas, ponds and trails. Other popular activities include parasailing, golfing, antique shopping and wine tasting. Three local vineyards provide tours and tasting of traditional and fruit wines. Public education in the community is provided by the local school district, which operates 14 schools throughout the town. The strongest economic sectors are tourism, fishing and cranberry packing.
